House

House is a 2008 film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Frank E. Peretti and Ted Dekker. The film is currently in post-production. It covers the events that take place one night in an old, rustic inn in Alabama, where four guests and three owners find themselves locked in by a homicidical maniac. The maniac claims to have killed God and threatens to murder all seven of them unless they produce the dead body of one of them by dawn.

House

It was revealed on Ted Dekker's website that the film's release date was pushed back to Fall 2008. It has received a rating of R for some violence and terror. Later it was announced the film would be released on November 14th in 450 theaters; however, the official release date is November 7, 2008. Early test screenings have been positive.

A recent update given to members of Ted Dekker's website has stated that Lions Gate Entertainment has purchased this film as well as the production for Ted Dekker's fastest selling novel, Adam.

The makers of the movie are doing something a little different with the music that is going to be played in the movie. The makers have made a deal with Tooth and Nail Records, the record company largely responsible for Christian rock, punk, hardcore, and other such bands and music. Exactly what kind of deal is not yet known, but chances are it will play some rather heavy Christian songs, or possibly just the music, in the movie. Also, there were rumors that some Christian metal songs would be in the ending credits, but the movie ended up containing solely songs by the band Anberlin.

Quarantine

Quarantine is a 2008 American horror film directed by John Erick Dowdle and starring Jennifer Carpenter. The film is a remake of the Spanish horror film [●REC].

Quarantine
Plot
The film opens with reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman Scott Percival (Steve Harris) doing a report on the night shift of a Los Angeles fire station. Angela and Scott are introduced to firefighters Fletcher (Johnathon Schaech) and Jake (Jay Hernandez), whom they will be following for the evening.

A medical emergency at an apartment complex is reported and the night shift is sent in. Yuri (Rade Serbedzija), the building superintendent, explains that a woman has been screaming, but is now silent. They are joined by two police officers, James (Andrew Fiscella) and Danny (Columbus Short), in the lobby. They are led to the apartment of Mrs. Espinoza (Jeannie Epper), the source of the screaming. They break down the door when she does not answer, and a dog runs out. Within the apartment, Espinoza is struggling to breathe, covered in blood, and foaming at the mouth. She bites James before being subdued by Fletcher. The others take James downstairs to get medical assistance, but find the building sealed shut by the authorities. Moments later, Fletcher falls from the floor above, also bitten. Lawrence (Greg Germann), a veterinarian, tends to the wounded men.

Danny and Jake go upstairs to subdue Espinoza, where they find the cleaning lady dead in her apartment. Danny shoots Espinoza when she charges them. They all return to the lobby, meeting Sadie (Dania Ramirez) on the way. By this time, all exterior windows and doors are being sealed, and cell phones are being jammed. Anyone who attempts to leave is forced back at gunpoint. Jake believes they are being quarantined due to a nuclear, biological, or chemical emergency. Danny and Jake round up the tenants and bring them to the lobby, including Elsie (Stacy Chbosky), who is displaying the same symptoms as Espinoza.

While Fletcher, James, and Elsie are treated by Lawrence, Angela begins interviewing tenants. One little girl, Briana (Joey King), is sick. Briana claims that she has a dog named Max who was sick and taken to an animal hospital. Lawrence states that the symptoms of those infected are similar to rabies, only much more fast-acting.

Angela and Scott notice Bernard and Sadie sneaking away, looking for a TV to try to discover what is happening outside. Espinoza's rabid dog appears and attacks one of the tenants. They reach Bernard's apartment and turn on the news, where the chief of police claims that everyone has been evacuated from the building, just before the power is shut off. The group is then attacked by Elsie, whom Scott kills.

Downstairs, Fletcher tries to attack everyone in the lobby, but Danny injects him with a sedative and then rounds everyone up in the textile shop. Danny states that Centers for Disease Control and Prevention agents are coming in to give blood tests. The residents are also told that anyone who is not infected will be released. Lawrence observes that the only way to test for rabies is through a brain sample, not a blood test, but Danny insists on following procedure. After a roll call, Yuri reveals that the penthouse apartment of the building is being rented by a man from Boston who is absent.

The CDC agents arrive and examine the infected victims, taking a brain sample from Fletcher. Fletcher breaks his restraints and attacks one of the agents. Danny, Jake, and the other agent escape, leaving Lawrence locked in the room with the infected. The textile shop is locked and the surviving CDC agent is forced to explain the situation: Briana's dog was brought to a vet with an unknown illness and infected all the animals there. The dog was traced back to the apartment building. Briana's fever is called into question, and she bites her mother before running upstairs.

Danny is bitten by Briana, and many of the survivors downstairs are bitten as well. The survivors lock themselves in an upstairs room. The surviving CDC agent has been bitten and runs away to keep from infecting the others. He is locked in an adjacent room while the others try to figure out what to do. Sadie is also bitten but Bernard pleads with the others not to kill her. Bernard cuts through a window seal to call for help, but is killed by a sniper. Yuri reveals that they can escape through a basement passage into the sewers; however, the keys are in his apartment. He is then killed by the infected agent. His wife is then killed by Sadie, who succumbed to the infection.

Angela, Scott, and Jake make their way to Yuri's apartment to get his keys. Jake is bitten along the way, and the infected chase Angela and Scott into the penthouse apartment. Within, they discover that the man from Boston, who was renting the penthouse, was a member of a doomsday cult that was cultivating an "Armageddon virus". A noise from the attic prompts Scott to investigate, and he finds an infected boy. The boy destroys the light on Scott's camera, so he turns on the night vision. Angela and Scott see an emaciated man emerge from another room. He walks past them initially but attacks Scott when Angela inadvertently makes a noise. Angela watches through the night vision of the camera as the infected man eats Scott. Angela is then attacked and drops the camera. The final shot is of Angela crawling back to the camera only to be dragged into the darkness, screaming.

The Midnight Meat Train 2008

The Midnight Meat TrainThe Midnight Meat Train is a 2008 horror film based on Clive Barker's 1984 short story of the same name, which can be found in Volume One of Barker's collection Books of Blood. The film follows a photographer who attempts to track down a serial killer dubbed the "Subway Butcher" and discovers more than he bargained for under the city streets.

The film was directed by Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura and stars Bradley Cooper, Roger Bart, Vinnie Jones and Brooke Shields. The script was adapted by Jeff Buhler, the producer was Tom Rosenberg of Lakeshore Entertainment, and it will be released on July 11, 2008.

The adaptation of this script was a labor of love for long-time Barker fan Jeff Buhler, who worked closely with Barker throughout the process. Their intent was to expand the world presented in the original short story while preserving the underlying mythology and themes presented in this seminal work of horror short fiction. Both Barker and Buhler fought long and hard to retain the original title of the film, which at one point was going to be changed by Lakeshore Entertainment to the more "user-friendly" "Midnight Train."

Producer Joe Daley, a long time friend of Buhler's, brought the two writers together and helped develop the script, along with producers Anthony Diblasi and Jorge Saralugi, for their newly minted horror factory The Midnight Picture Company. As of this entry, The Midnight Picture Company was busy shooting The Book of Blood, the next film adaptation from the anthology of short stories that spawned Midnight Meat Train.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Hellboy II: The Golden ArmyHellboy II: The Golden Army is a 2008 film directed by Guillermo del Toro. The film is a sequel to 2004's Hellboy, also directed by Del Toro. Hellboy II: The Golden Army is written by Guillermo del Toro and Mike Mignola. Universal Pictures finances and distributes the film, which has a target release date for July 11, 2008.

Premise :

In February 2007, Mignola described the story he had developed with del Toro as one that focused on folklore and fairy tales, rather than the more pulp elements of the first film. It's not Nazis, machines and mad scientists but the old gods and characters who have been kind of shoved out of our world. I kind of equate it to the whole American Indian situation. The Indians were shoved onto reservations. You had your old, wise Indians who said, "You know, this is the way it is. We can't fight anymore. We just have to accept our fate." You then have your Geronimo character saying, "Or we could just kill the White Man." That's kind of the situation we have in the film. We have our elf characters resigning to the way things are and then there's one saying, "Or we could take the world back." The main difference is - what if the Indians had a nuclear warhead? The elves have their equivalent of the weapon that is too terrible to use. What if this guy decided to use it?

Prom Night 2008

Prom Night 2008As the film opens, high school student Donna Keppel (Brittany Snow) sees her dad and brother dead and witnesses her mother get murdered by Richard Fenton (Johnathon Schaech), a teacher at her school who has become obsessed with her. Three years later, Donna, about to graduate and living with her aunt and uncle, is in therapy and taking pills (Klonopin, a benzodiazapine) to deal with the trauma of losing her family and her persistent nightmares. Donna and several friends (Bobby (Scott Porter) ), Lisa (Dana Davis), Ronnie (Collins Pennie), Michael (Kelly Blatz) and Claire (Jessica Stroup) make plans to attend their senior prom together.

Meanwhile, Detective Winn, the police officer responsible for imprisoning Fenton, learns that Fenton has escaped three days before Donna's senior prom and decides to stake out Donna's prom in order to keep an eye on her.

At the prom, Donna and her friends get keys to a suite in the hotel. Fenton is already at the prom and kills the maid to obtain the master key. He hides in the hotel room while Donna is in there. She opens the door and Claire surprises her. Claire is fighting with her boyfriend and says that she will be back down when she fixes her make-up. After Donna leaves, Claire hears noises and checks to see if it is Donna. She realizes that it is Fenton and is stabbed and killed.

Detectives Winn and Nash, Winn's partner, find the body of a man named Ramsey supposedly registered at the hotel. Michael goes upstairs to their room to find Claire to see if she would except his apology. He sees the closet door closing while checking the bathroom and goes up to the closet and opens it and sees Fenton's face. Fenton jumps at him and stabs him.

Lisa and Ronnie head up to the suite and Lisa bumps into Fenton in the elevator, but does not recognize him. She realizes his identity when Ronnie and her are having a romantic moment. She leaves suddenly leaving Ronnie confused. Ronnie was just about to propose. She leaves to warn Donna. When she gets to the elevator it is taking too long, so she rushes to the stairs and trips. She sees Fenton behind the door and she starts to run, hiding from him in a section of the hotel under renovation. She hides under a table. Ronnie comes down looking for her but she does not scream because Fenton would kill Ronnie if she did. Ronnie then goes back up. She thinks Fenton is gone, so she gets out from under the table and accidentally knocks over some paint tins, alerting Fenton. She runs right into him and he grabs her and slits her throat. Her blood sprays all over the plastic covering.

Detective Winn heads up to the room registered to Fenton's victim and finds the body of a hotel employee, a maid. Now knowing for sure that Fenton is in the building, he triggers the emergency alarm and evacuates the building, just as, downstairs, Ronnie and Lisa are about to be announced as prom king and queen. Ronnie and Bobby head outside while Donna goes back upstairs to retrieve something she left in the suite. Donna sees Fenton in the suite and hides under the bed she sees Claire's body and screams. Then she runs out the room and runs into Winn and Nash. Nash drives her back to her house while Winn searches the hotel (unsuccessfully) for Fenton. He eventually realizes that Fenton may have escaped wearing a hotel employee's uniform, and rushes back to Donna's house to warn her. He calls Nash, who is stationed outside Donna's home, on the way and tells him to get into the house.

Nash and another cop patrol the house while Donna and Bobby go to sleep. Winn arrives to find Nash dead in his car, throat slashed. Donna goes to the bathroom to take some pills to calm herself down and sees Fenton standing behind her in the mirror. Fenton grabs Donna by the hair and smashes her head against the mirror, knocking her unconscious.

Donna jerks awake and realizes she was only dreaming. She goes to the bathroom and takes some pills, only to come back and find Bobby dead, his throat slit. She sees a shadow thinking it is Fenton she hides in her closet but is grabbed by Fenton. The shadow figure was really Winn. A scream is heard so Winn goes downstairs. The person screaming was Donna's aunt because she sees a dead cop in her drive way. Donna hits Fenton and runs out the room but Fenton grabs her leg she starts to struggle with him. Winn comes back upstairs and shoots Fenton several times. Donna cries over Bobby's dead body. Her aunt and uncle then come in and take her out of the room, and the end credits roll.
